Production Assistant Writer/Translator English-Spanish
Ruby attended Eastern New Mexico University where she completed her BA with a double major in Sociology and Spanish and a double minor in Psychology and Anthropology.
Ruby joined Sanchez Films, LLC on August 2014. Ruby came to Sanchez Films after having worked for the State of New Mexico for 25 years. Her career as a public servant was in Program Administration. She worked with the Department of Human Services for a total of 12 years. While at Human Services, she learned the different programs that serve participants seeking eligibility for nutritional, financial, medical and energy assistance and supervised Financial Assistant Analysts. For the remainder of her 13 years, Ruby worked with the Department of Finance & Administration where she administered State, Federal, and Legislative grants for New Mexico. She provided oversight and guidance to counties/cities/towns/and villages who were awarded funds for the purpose of completing activities such as: community water and sewer systems, streets, roads, curb & gutter, sidewalks, community centers, and senior centers, etc. She worked with elected officials to ensure that projects undertaken came to fruition. Also while at the Department of Finance & Administration, she administered the DWI Grants Program where she developed and oversaw the contract for statewide screening and tracking of DWI offenders in 33 counties. She coordinated a three county pilot to prepare all counties for a statewide roll out of a web-based tracking system used by the courts.
Ruby has thoroughly enjoyed learning aspects of the film making industry while working at Sanchez Films. She has been able to use her writing and translating skills and hopes to continue to grow with this very new film company owned by a Native New Mexican, Tomas Sanchez, whose goal is to tell stories that originate with ties to New Mexico and portray the diversity of culture and traditions that lie therein.
